MY WEEK 8 : ( FEB 20TH )

I think this photo of the allotments sums up the type of weather we have had this week, but never mind I`ve still managed to get some work done.
I have been busy getting all my wooden laths painted up, I have given the bottom 6" of them a coat of a bitumen based paint which I hope will prolong their life, hopefuly they won`t rot now while they are in the ground. I use these for my cordon sweet peas and runner beans to grow up.
Also this week I have applied Growmore fertiliser to the nursery bed at home in which I will sow my leeks into in 2 weeks time, also added Growmore to the bed I will be sowing my parsnips into when the weather permits and potash to the bed where I will start sowing salad onions.
When this cold snap ends, hopefuly soon, I will be able to think about planting out my sweet peas, can`t wait.
Anyway that`s it for this week, hopefuly we will have better weather next week.
