MY WEEK 6:(FEB 6TH)
Our allotments this week have been a hive of activity, with people coming to the stores to collect their seed potatoes, shallots and onion sets. It`s a great feeling of anticipation when chitting your potatoes, knowing that within a short time you will be starting to sow and plant in earnest.
This week I have prepared my sweet pea beds ready for planting them out at the beginning of March, hopefuly If we have an average Spring and not too cold, I will be picking the first stems at the beginning of June.
I have dug up the remaining parnips so that I can prepare the bed for the next crop, I transplanted a few to let them go to seed ready for next years crop, I have also done the same with some leeks.
This week I have sown some All Year Round cauliflower, I like to grow them early to avoid the excessive temperatures that we may have later in the Summer.
